NEEDHAM – The campaign for Denise Garlick, Vice-Chairman of the Needham Board of Selectmen and Democratic nominee for State Representative in the 13th Norfolk District, will host a voter information booth at the Needham Harvest Fair on Saturday, October 2.

“I look forward to each and every opportunity to interact with the voters of this district, and Saturday will be a great chance to listen to many more residents of Needham about what is important to them.”

An image of the Garlick Campaign booth from Medfield Day is attached, as is an image of Denise talking to a supporter in Medfield center.

Letter: Garlick thanks voters, supporters, colleagues

Dear Friends,

I wish to express my sincere thanks to the voters of Needham, Dover and Medfield for their engagement in the primary election. Participation in our political process is the hallmark of democracy and I witnessed this throughout the primary when talking to voters and on Election Day. I want you to know that I listened carefully in those conversations, and I share your concerns. On Beacon Hill, I will work hard to grow jobs, contain health care costs, and protect our local aid that is vital for education and services for our seniors.

I also thank my Democratic colleagues for running campaigns that brought issues to the forefront for the voters of this district. Our district is strengthened in many ways by Jerry Wasserman’s knowledge and experience, and Gary McNeill’s commitment to our community. I thank you both for your support going forward.

I would like to congratulate John O’Leary on his victory in the Republican primary.  I look forward to a campaign that gives the voters a clear choice for the future of this district. I wish the best to Josh Levy for a bright future.

I am honored to be the Democratic nominee and I thank my family and my supporters for everything they’ve done and will continue to do in this campaign.

Sincerely,
Denise Garlick

Press Release: NARAL

Denise Garlick is a Pro-Choice candidate and is listed as such on the NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts website, available here. However, NARAL has declined to endorse a candidate for the 13th Norfolk district during this primary cycle. Due to a misunderstanding, the Garlick campaign listed NARAL’s endorsement on a single piece of campaign literature, hand-delivered to some Needham homes on September 11, 2010 and apologizes for the error.

(9/13 UPDATES):
The campaign delivered different literature that did not mention NARAL to Needham residents while canvassing on September 12 and 13.

In a statement to the Needham Times, Andrea Miller, executive director for NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts said, "We want to confirm and reiterate that NARAL has remained neutral. I think it's an honest misunderstanding, unfortunately. But it's very important voters know NARAL is remaining neutral."

Press Release: Garlick Campaign Releases Second Video

Denise Garlick releases second video message to voters
Featuring speech from Home Stretch Rally, available on DeniseGarlick.com

NEEDHAM - Denise Garlick's campaign released a second video message to voters on DeniseGarlick.com. Garlick, candidate for State Representative of the 13th Norfolk District, is featured delivering a speech to supporters at her campaign’s Home Stretch Rally on August 29.

In the video she says: "I'm hearing the same story again and again when I’m at the doors talking to people. People are very concerned about health care. My experience as a Registered Nurse is incredibly helpful on this; we need someone at that table that knows what direct care is, who remembers the mission of health care is patients and not profits and can hold that very principled line.”

On education she said, “Education is so very important to us. Many of us have moved to these communities so our children could come through the public school system.”

And in closing she said: “I have the energy to do this job, and I have the political courage to do this job.”

The video was paid for by the Friends of Denise Garlick, and directed and produced by Boston Freelance Media.

If you have any questions, or for a transcript of the video, please contact Alex Garlick.

Press Release: Garlick Endorsed by Mass Women's Political Caucus

Denise Garlick Endorsed by Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus

NEEDHAM - The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus PAC, has endorsed Denise Garlick, RN for State Representative of the 13th Norfolk District which includes Needham, Dover and Medfield.

Garlick said, “I am proud to have the support of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus. My voice, as a woman, will be valuable at the State House. I have balanced having a family and a work life and know the constant strain and stress so many families face.”

Despite the fact that women make up more than half of the Massachusetts population, only 26% of Representatives are women. Furthermore, progress is not coming easy. There are fewer female State Representatives today than there were ten years ago. “I will bring perspective, experience and a strong voice to the debate at the State House on many issues that impact our families including jobs and economic development, containing health-care costs while preserving access and quality care and protecting local aid,” Garlick said.

“Denise is an amazing example of a hard-working champion of the people.  Outstanding activism and dedication to her community have been the trademarks of her career and we are proud to lend our resources to her candidacy,” stated MWPC Executive Director, Priti Rao in a release. “Garlick has worked tirelessly on a wide variety of issues and her experience of serving the public is exceptional.”

Garlick is the Vice-Chairman of the Needham Board of Selectmen, and a past President of the Massachusetts Nurses Association.

Garlick has previously received the endorsement of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and Massachusetts Nurses Association.

The Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus PAC is a multi-partisan organization that works to increase the number of women elected and appointed to public office and to increase the participation of women of all ages in the political process.
